WIFI Encryption

There are lots of you out there running 802.11b wireless access points in your homes… and I also know that lots of your are guilty of not running WEP on them… This probably seems pretty harmless – I mean your data is not that important so if people sniff your traffic you don’t really care… and what if random people can just hop onto your cablemodem connection, its all about community access right?

Intitally, these thoughts are probably kosher at first glance… the problem is that there are tons of jackasses out there looking for wide-open WiFi access points so they can send out SPAM… you got it, they’re gonna use your connection to send out SPAM… and in the end it’ll probably cause you a huge headache as you explain to your ISP that you are not a spammer…

Don’t believe me? Here’s an article about it: http://www.newsfactor.com/perl/story/21168.html

So go find the manual to your access point and/or router and turn WEP on… at least 64-bit. Need my help? Give me a buzz, you know how to find me.
